SE Mäkinen Expands Vehicle Equipment Offering by Acquiring Majority Stake in Jonasson Oy
Jonasson Oy (Carsport Design) and SE Mäkinen Logistics Oy have agreed on an ownership arrangement on 1 July 2025, making SE Mäkinen the majority owner of Jonasson.
The structures of the automotive value chain are being challenged from many directions. Now, more than ever, the focus is on cost levels, speed, and quality. By integrating with an automotive logistics company, Carsport gets closer to the natural flow of new cars, becoming a seamless part of their overall delivery. Together, the companies will be stronger as they seek overall efficiency and develop and design new vehicle equipment solutions.
Carsport is the definitive quality leader in its field, and with its service production, SE Mäkinen will be able to offer a complete range of commercial vehicle equipment in the future, from passenger transport solutions, camper vans, and emergency vehicles to special equipment for vans. This step is a natural part of SE Mäkinen's long-term development to secure a comprehensive service across the entire automotive value chain.
Carsport's CEO Ronkainen summarizes the arrangement: "SE Mäkinen's involvement strengthens our ability to manage the entire automotive value chain and its logistics. The new structure increases our capacity and improves the offering of customer-oriented tailored solutions. Above all, the lead time of car deliveries will be reduced thanks to better overall coordination and capacity."
SE Mäkinen's CEO Iiro Mäkinen describes the arrangement as follows: "Carsport celebrates its 60th anniversary as a family business this year. Our understanding of customer needs and organizational management are highly compatible. With Carsport, SE Mäkinen will be able to expand its offering and gains a solid dose of commercial vehicle equipment expertise. We see the ownership of Carsport as a commitment to further develop a great family business."
Ownership arrangements of a long and successful family business are emotional and even challenging. Sales Director Juha Jonasson sees the solution as the next leap in a long development path: "We have given our all to the company together with my father and brothers over the past five decades. We are excited to start a new phase in Carsport's development, where together with SE Mäkinen's strong family business, we can set our goals to a new level without forgetting the already proven choices of our company in terms of passionate quality and customer orientation."
